What UGI does

UGI Corporation is a global and domestic energy company that specializes in the comprehensive handling of various energy products, from their storage and transportation to their ultimate distribution and sale, alongside offering related services. Its operations are structured across four key divisions: AmeriGas Propane, UGI International, Midstream & Marketing, and UGI Utilities. Through its AmeriGas Propane segment, the company supplies approximately 1.4 million diverse clients—spanning residential, commercial, industrial, motor fuel, agricultural, and wholesale sectors—from a network of 1,600 distribution points. Its international arm extends this reach, providing liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) to a similar broad spectrum of consumers and businesses, while also delivering essential logistical, storage, and support services to other LPG distributors. Additionally, UGI directly sells natural gas, liquid fuels, and electricity to roughly 12,600 residential, commercial, and industrial clients across 42,400 sites. In Pennsylvania, its UGI Utilities segment delivers natural gas to around 672,000 customers throughout the eastern and central counties, utilizing an extensive network of approximately 12,400 miles of gas mains. It also provides electricity to about 62,500 households and businesses in northeastern Pennsylvania, supported by 2,600 miles of power lines and 14 substations. Beyond distribution, the company maintains a robust infrastructure, which encompasses various electric power generation plants—including those fueled by coal, landfill gas, solar, and natural gas. This extensive network further includes a facility for natural gas liquefaction, storage, and vaporization, as well as propane storage and propane-air mixing stations, and critical rail transshipment terminals. The firm also oversees natural gas pipeline and storage agreements, actively developing, owning, and operating pipelines, gas gathering systems, and storage installations. UGI Corporation was established in 1991 and is headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
