What Trinseo does

Trinseo PLC operates as a global supplier of material solutions, manufacturing and distributing a variety of plastics and latex binders throughout the United States, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and other international markets. The company's business activities are organized into six principal divisions: Engineered Materials, Latex Binders, Base Plastics, Polystyrene, Feedstocks, and Americas Styrenics. The Engineered Materials segment offers a diverse portfolio of advanced compounds. This includes durable materials like polycarbonate, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), and PC blends, predominantly used for equipment casings in consumer electronics and healthcare. It also produces thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) soft plastic compounds – such as overmolds, seals, tubing, and films – for high-end automotive parts, footwear soles, personal care items, and consumer electronics. Furthermore, this segment provides PMMA products for applications in construction, automotive, medical, and general consumer goods. The Latex Binders segment specializes in various latex formulations, including styrene-butadiene, styrene-acrylate, vinylidene chloride, and butadiene-methacrylate. These are primarily employed in commercial and niche carpet manufacturing, as well as in high-performance latex products for the adhesives, building and construction, and technical textile paper industries. The Base Plastics segment concentrates on supplying a range of compounds and blends for the automotive sector and other industries. This division is also involved in the production of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN), and polycarbonate. The Polystyrene segment provides both general-purpose and high-impact polystyrene, key ingredients for products such as appliances, food packaging (including disposables), consumer electronics, and building materials. The Feedstocks segment is dedicated to producing styrene monomer, a fundamental chemical building block essential for plastics production. The Americas Styrenics segment primarily delivers styrene and polystyrene products. Established in 2015, Trinseo PLC's corporate headquarters are located in Berwyn, Pennsylvania.
