The Principal Investments-Communications segment manages a portfolio of communication-related ventures, notably offering consumer internet access through United Online (under the NetZero and Juno brands), Voice over IP (VoIP) services via magicJack, and mobile phone services and devices through Marconi Wireless. Lastly, the Brands segment oversees and licenses a diverse collection of brand investments, including prominent names like Catherine Malandrino, English Laundry, Joan Vass, Kensie Girl, Limited Too, and Nanette Lepore. In addition to these specialized segments, the company also provides general advisory services, brokerage services, and offers senior and second-lien secured loans to public and private middle-market companies throughout the United States. Founded in 1973, the firm was initially known as Great American Group, Inc. before officially changing its name to B. Riley Financial, Inc. in November 2014, and is based in Los Angeles, California.
