What PG&E does

PG&E Corporation, operating through its subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric Company, supplies electricity and natural gas to consumers across northern and central California in the United States. The company sources its electricity from a diverse mix of nuclear, hydroelectric, fossil fuel, fuel cell, and solar (photovoltaic) energy. By December 31, 2021, its extensive infrastructure encompassed roughly 18,000 circuit miles of interconnected power transmission lines, 33 electric transmission substations, and approximately 108,000 circuit miles of distribution lines, supported by 67 transmission switching substations and 753 distribution substations. For natural gas, it manages a comprehensive network featuring about 43,800 miles of distribution pipelines, around 6,200 miles of backbone and local transmission pipelines, and multiple storage facilities. Its varied customer base includes residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural clients, as well as facilities that generate electricity using natural gas. Established in 1905, PG&E Corporation maintains its headquarters in San Francisco, California.
