The company's activities are organized into four main divisions: Individual Retirement, Group Retirement, Investment Management and Research, and Protection Solutions. The Individual Retirement segment focuses on delivering a range of variable annuity products, primarily targeting affluent and high-net-worth individuals. The Group Retirement segment provides tax-deferred investment and retirement plans for entities such as educational institutions, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and small to medium-sized businesses. Within its Investment Management and Research division, the company offers broad investment management, research, and related services to a diverse clientele, including institutional, retail, and private wealth management clients, as well as distributing its institutional research. Lastly, the Protection Solutions segment supplies various life insurance options, such as variable universal, indexed universal, and term life policies, to affluent individuals and small to medium-sized business owners. It also offers a comprehensive selection of life, short- and long-term disability, dental, and vision insurance coverage to small and medium-sized businesses. Founded in New York, New York, in 1859, the company was previously known as AXA Equitable Holdings, Inc. until its renaming to Equitable Holdings, Inc. in January 2020.
