What EMCORE does

EMCORE Corporation, founded in 1984 and based in Alhambra, California, specializes in developing advanced mixed-signal optoelectronic solutions. Its products are distributed worldwide, spanning the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe. The company is structured into two principal divisions: Aerospace and Defense, and Broadband. Within its Aerospace and Defense segment, EMCORE delivers navigation and inertial sensing technology. This includes a range of fiber optic gyro products—such as gyroscopes, inertial measurement units (IMUs), and inertial navigation systems (INS)—as well as QMEMS gyroscopes, accelerometers, IMUs, and INS devices, primarily catering to aerospace and defense applications. This segment also offers defense optoelectronics, encompassing the Optiva platform for fiber optic transport systems, erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, robust microwave flange-mount transmitters, receivers, and optical delay line components. The Broadband segment provides a variety of optoelectronic components. These include cable TV (CATV) lasers and transmitters crucial for forward and return path broadband operations, subassembly components, analog fiber-optic transmitters, quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) transmitters, and CATV fiber amplifiers. Additionally, EMCORE supplies high-power gain chips, photodiode products, and GPON fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) and data center chip products, primarily for the telecommunications industry. The company's offerings also extend to lasers, receivers, and photodetector components utilized in wireless, distributed sensing, and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) applications. EMCORE targets diverse markets including CATV, optical sensing, telecommunications, data centers, navigation, and defense optoelectronics. Its products reach customers through a combination of a direct sales force, application engineers, third-party sales representatives, and distributors.
