DURECT Corporation is a biopharmaceutical enterprise dedicated to the research and development of innovative medicines, leveraging its epigenetic regulator and pharmaceutical platforms. The company provides the ALZET product range, which includes osmotic pumps and associated accessories vital for research studies conducted on mice, rats, and other laboratory animals. In its development pipeline, DURECT is advancing larsucosterol (DUR-928), an endogenous, orally administered small molecule. This compound, currently undergoing a Phase IIb clinical trial for alcohol-associated hepatitis, is designed to regulate lipid metabolism, stress and inflammatory pathways, and cellular survival and death. A Phase Ib clinical trial for patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis has also been successfully completed. Additionally, DURECT markets POSIMIR, a product aimed at managing post-surgical pain in adults by delivering bupivacaine for an extended period. The company also offers Methydur, a treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Sales of the ALZET product line are managed by an in-house sales force across the United States and through an extensive network of distributors internationally, including Japan and Europe. DURECT Corporation engages in strategic collaborations and agreements with various partners, such as the Virginia Commonwealth University Intellectual Property Foundation, Indivior UK Ltd., and Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Established in 1998, DURECT Corporation maintains its headquarters in Cupertino, California.
