The Houston Electric Transmission & Distribution (T&D) division is responsible for providing electric transmission and distribution services to electric utilities, overseeing 236 substation sites with a combined transformer capacity of 68,053 megavolt amperes. Concurrently, the Indiana Electric Integrated segment delivers energy services to electric customers and manages electric generation assets for both retail and wholesale markets. The Natural Gas Distribution segment handles the sale of regulated intrastate natural gas and offers transportation and storage solutions for a broad range of clients, including residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors. This extensive segment also provides unregulated services like home appliance maintenance and repair, managing approximately 98,000 linear miles of natural gas distribution infrastructure. CenterPoint's Energy Services division supplies physical natural gas, primarily to commercial, industrial, and utility customers. It also provides natural gas management and physical delivery services, while procuring and optimizing essential transportation and storage assets. This includes owning and operating 210 miles of intrastate pipeline in Louisiana and Texas, alongside leasing capacity on various interstate and intrastate pipelines and storage facilities. The Infrastructure Services segment specializes in the construction and repair of underground pipelines. Additionally, the Midstream Investment segment offers natural gas and crude oil gathering, as well as natural gas processing services to producers. It further provides interstate and intrastate natural gas pipeline transportation and storage services to a varied clientele, including producers, power plants, local distribution companies, and industrial end-users. Established in 1866 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, CenterPoint Energy served approximately 7 million electric and natural gas metered customers as of March 2, 2020.
