What Cardtronics does

Cardtronics plc specializes in delivering automated financial solutions directly to consumers, primarily through its extensive network of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and advanced multi-functional financial services kiosks. For individual cardholders, their offerings encompass essential services like cash withdrawals, balance checks, and other money-related transactions. Beyond consumer-facing interactions, Cardtronics extends comprehensive ATM management and equipment support to a diverse clientele. This includes major retail chains, independent merchants, financial institutions, and proprietors of various venues such as shopping centers, airports, railway stations, and gaming establishments. The firm's operational scope further covers a wide array of back-end ATM functions. These include transaction processing, meticulous cash and delivery management, supply chain logistics, telecommunications infrastructure, and both routine and technical maintenance. Moreover, Cardtronics owns and operates proprietary electronic funds transfer (EFT) transaction processing platforms, which not only serve its own ATM fleet but also provide processing for machines managed on behalf of other clients. Additionally, they deliver processing solutions for entities issuing debit cards. A key differentiator is their ownership and operation of the Allpoint network, a prominent surcharge-free ATM service. This network grants fee-free ATM access to customers of participating banks, credit unions, digital banking platforms, financial technology firms, and issuers of stored-value debit cards. By April 1, 2020, Cardtronics' services extended to approximately 285,000 ATMs across significant global regions, including North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. The company was established in 1989 and maintains its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
