The Consumer Banking division serves individual customers by providing a range of deposit accounts, including traditional and money market savings, certificates of deposit (CDs), and IRAs, alongside both interest-bearing and non-interest-bearing checking options, and various investment products. This segment also issues credit and debit cards and offers diverse lending products such as residential mortgages, home equity loans, and direct or indirect financing for auto, recreational vehicle, and personal needs. Within the Global Wealth & Investment Management unit, the company offers extensive services encompassing investment management, brokerage, banking, trust administration, and retirement planning. These offerings include broad wealth management strategies and tailored solutions, notably specialized asset management services. The Global Banking segment supports businesses and institutions with a full suite of lending facilities, comprising commercial loans, leases, commitment facilities, trade finance, and both commercial real estate and asset-based lending. It also furnishes treasury solutions, such as treasury management, foreign exchange services, short-term investment options, and merchant services. Additional provisions include working capital management, the underwriting and distribution of debt and equity, and advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, among other financial transactions. Bank of America's Global Markets segment facilitates financial transactions through market-making activities, financing services, and comprehensive securities operations including clearing, settlement, and custody. It further supplies advanced risk management tools, employing a variety of derivatives (linked to interest rates, equities, credit, currencies, and commodities), foreign exchange, fixed-income instruments, and mortgage-related products. As of December 31, 2021, the institution catered to approximately 67 million consumer and small business clients. This extensive customer base was supported by an expansive physical network, featuring around 4,200 retail financial centers and 16,000 ATMs, further augmented by robust digital banking platforms utilized by roughly 41 million active users. Founded in 1784, the company's primary corporate office is situated in Charlotte, North Carolina.
